U10 Junior Rams Black Team Wins Four Games

The U10 Black team had a busy first week of June, with three league games and a Saturday tournament in Laingsburg. Our boys won four of the six games, bringing their season record up to 8-2.

The week started after an 18-day layoff from games with a home match-up against East Lansing. The feisty Trojans pulled off a surprising upset against our Junior Rams, handing us our first defeat in league play. Our guys regrouped and headed to Williamston the next night to take on the Stingers in the 95-degree heat. The boys opened up hot with five runs in the first inning, and pulled away for a 15-11 win. Two nights later, in a rematch against East Lansing at Patriarche Park, our Black Junior Rams ran up a "baker's dozen" in a 13-4 victory.

Our big week of games ended with a one day tournament in Laingsburg. The boys played two mixed-teams from Laingsburg, winning both, and qualified for the Championship game against a team from the Flushing Baseball club. The team from the Flushing organization looked like a Flint-area all-star team, and had reportedly played in more than a dozen tournaments already this season. Our guys dug down and held them to their lowest score of the day, but we lost that game to finish second in the tournament.

The U10 Black team is 6-1 in the "C" Division of the Mid-Michigan Pony League, with two games coming up this week.
