Gold U14 Lose to South Lansing Greyhounds: 1-12

Gold U14 Lose to South Lansing Greyhounds: 1-12
Another tough loss for the Rams Gold U14 team. Maybe it's the heat, the weekend BBQs, the end of the school year distractions... Whatever it may be, the boys are ready to shake it off and rally together as a team. Next Tuesday they will take on the Greyhounds again and they'll be ready to battle. Let's go RAMS!

Each game ended with Fowlerville having the go ahead run at the plate, but the Holt boys stayed strong with great defense and pitching to get out with wins.

Holt Jr. Rams Gold U14: Tough Loss to the Orioles

The bats just weren't in the boys favor tonight as the Holt Jr. Rams Gold U14 team took on the CBC Orioles. A tough 0-11 loss was a reminder that "baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical." (Yogi Berra) Now that their first loss is out of the way, they can gear up for another game tomorrow night in Williamston. Let's go Holt!

You could feel the heat coming from the bats tonight, they were on fire.
Both Hayden and Andrew M. went 2 for 3 with singles.
Kody, Austin, Noah E. and Bryce each reached 1st base with singles also.

Tonight was proof that you don't have to BE big, to HIT big, John and Noah R. both pounded the ball deep for a double.

The Dansville team was held to 3 runs by the pitching efforts of James and Hayden.
James started on the mound, threw for 4 innings and struck out 8 batters.
Hayden took the mound in the 5th and finished the game in 6th innings.

The back-to-back wins against Dansville Black put the boys league record at 2-2.

U12 Black Annihilates Dansville Black 10-1!

The Holt U12 Black team played their first home game on Friday night, May 20th against the Dansville Black team. The bats were on fire with Noah R. and Bryce each hitting singles and bringing in a run. The long balls came from Andrew M. who slapped out a double while Derik pounded one out for a three bagger!

It was a team effort on offense with Andrew M. posting 3 RBIs, Derik and Kody both had 2, while Hayden, Bryce and Noah R. batting in one run each. Dansville got their lone run in the first inning and the combination of good defensive plays and outstanding pitching by Bryce and Noah E. held them for the rest of the game. Noah E. pitched 4 innings while Bryce finished off the night with the final inning. The boys posted 5 strikeouts between them.

It was a great way to come back from two losses previously to Charlotte. Next week they face Dansville again, hopefully for a repeat performance and another posted win!

Holt Gold U14 Beats Lakewood Vikings U14

It was a slow start for the Holt Gold U14 team as they hosted the Lakewood Vikings. Midway through they rallied together, got themselves out of a pickle, and ended with a win 5-4. The boys are looking forward to their two games next week against Charlotte and Williamston. Go Holt!

U10 Holt White back on track

ingredient that allow the boys to cruise to victory. The Rams jump back

Holt Blue U12 Continues to Roll!

The Holt Blue U12 continued to keep things moving with a comeback win on Monday
evening. Holt fell behind early, but continued to fight back down 6-2 early.
Late in the game Holt Blue posted 6 runs to take the lead. Holt Blue held
Stockbridge late in the game to win 12-9 and start out with a positive 2-0 start
to the season.

HJRB D&M U12 pounded East Lansing 23 – 3

With the exception of a 3 run homer by East Lansing their bats were very ineffective against our pitching squad of Patrick, Spencer, and Jake D.  Patrick pitched three no run innings with four strikeouts (one inning he only threw 4 pitches), Spencer pitched an inning and got 1 strike out, then Jake D. was the closer with 3-up/3-down (2K’s and a ground out).  The infielders and outfielders helped this effort with very few errors!

The D&M bats on the other hand were on fire with singles, doubles, and a triple by Mitchell.  This hitting plus some walks and good base running helped D&M put the game away pretty quickly with scoring in every inning.  Everyone got on base!! Coach Denison has been talking to the boys about being a “pack” and that showed last night!

U10 Black Team Beats Haslett, 10-9

Our U10 Black Junior Rams team made it four wins in a row, with a 10-9 victory over the Haslett Vikings on May 17. With two players absent, our boys played the entire game with only three outfielders, and survived a frenzied Haslett rally in the final inning.

Big Eli swing the big stick, with three hits and three RBI, while Ethan added three hits and two runs scored. Marcell had two hits, including a double, with two runs scored. Nicholas had a clutch double to score two insurance runs that turned out to be the game-winners.

Our pitchers held the Vikings to five runs through four innings before the home team rallied in the bottom of the fifth. Josh threw two innings, with Jack providing middle relief, and David-Michael held the mound for the final two at-bats. Josh and David-Michael each had three strikeouts.

The win leaves our Junior Rams atop the U10 "C" division with a 4-0 record, and half of the road schedule already completed. Our boys will host the Lansing Tigers on May 18 at Elliott Field.

U12 White defeats Leslie

The U12 White team went on the road for the first time last night, but the outcome was remarkably the same, another thrilling down-to-the-wire 9-8 win, this time over a tough Leslie team.  Preston (38) pitched the first two innings against a very good hitting Leslie team, recording five strike outs, and getting help for the other out from an outstanding throw from Brayden (42) behind the plate to catch a runner attempting to steal third, but instead finding the tag of Jake (31).  Justin (11) took over on the mound for the next two innings recording three strikeouts and fielding a hit back to the mount to throw down to Anthony (94) at first, then getting help in the field from Cole (18), and Michael (23) for force outs at first and second.  In the end his performance led to stranding five runners over both innings and limiting Leslie to just two runs.  Clinging to a single run lead, and needing a shutdown effort, Nolan (23) made his first appearance on the mount this season.  He quickly got two batters to ground into force outs at first, and with the tying run in scoring position, he struck out Leslie's leadoff hitter (who had previously been 3 for 3 on the night), to seal the victory.  Along the way, the team continues to see improvement at the plate and was led by Colin (37) who went 2 for 3 for the night to lead all Holt batters.

U10 Junior Rams Black Team Beats Haslett, 6-4

The Holt Junior Rams U10 Black team won their third game of the season by a score of 6-4 against Haslett on May 13 at Elliott Field. Both teams brought great pitching to the contest, but our Black Rams came from behind in the bottom of the fifth inning, and closed out the Vikings in the sixth for the victory.

Haslett's excellent starting pitcher held our boys to a single run through three innings, but David's triple in the bottom of the fifth scored the winning runs. David had three hits, while Ethan and Kadin each scored two runs.

Three pitchers combined for seven strikeouts, including three by Nick, two by Eli, and two by David.

Our U10 Black team is now 3-0, with two games scheduled for next week before the midseason break.

Holt Junior Rams Black U10 beat Okemos 13-11

The Holt U10 Junior Rams Black team completed their season-opening two-game road trip with with a hard-fought 13-11 victory on May 11 against a talented and well-coached Okemos squad. The game was marked by several lead changes, but our Junior Rams scored six of the last seven runs in the game to clinch the win.

The Black bats were started by Nicholas, who opened the game with a double. Josh also doubled, as did David-Michael, who had two hits. Marcell had three hits, including a triple, and David hit a dramatic home run late in the game. Big Eli swung the big stick, with three hits, including a double, a triple, and three RBI. Ethan added two RBI for Jeff Booth's team.

The Junior Rams pitchers combined for seven strikeouts, including four by Elijah in two innings as the starter. Marcell threw two innings of effective middle relief, and Nic made a memorable pitching debut to get the final three outs of the game. With the game-tying run in the on-deck circle, Nic induced a popout, struck out the second batter, and got the third batter to ground out to end the game.

The U10 Black Junior Rams are now 2-1, and will open their home schedule on May 13 against Haslett at the new Elliot Field complex.

GAME NOTE: Eli's 3-3 performance was preceded by a home run in his final at-bat in the previous game. That made our guy 4-4 in his last four at-bats, with a single, and double, a triple, and a home run.

The Battle of Holt U10

In a battle between 2 Jr. Rams squads the Holt White U10 team prevailed 11 to 1.

Solid pitching, hitting, and fielding was norm for the White squad last

night. A young Blue team was opening their season last night and showed

a lot of promise for their upcoming season. The White team's next game is

Monday the 16th at home against the Aggies of Dansville.

U12 White opens season with a dramatic win.

The U12 White team opened the season with a 9-8 win over the Bath Bees last Friday night.  After getting the first inning of the season under their belt, the boys settled in and treated the home crowd to a come from behind win in the bottom of the last inning.  The team benefited from strong work on the mound by Michael (23), Preston (38), and Justin (11) working together with Nolan (23), and Brayden (42) behind the plate.  At the plate Noah (6) showed a fast bat the get the hits started in the 2nd inning, and Colin (37) blasted the team's only extra base hit in the 4th inning.  The play of the game was provided Anthony C (34), when with two outs and man in scoring position, Anthony made a shoe top catch off a sharply hit ball to right field for the fly-out to end the inning keeping Bath off the board, and within striking distance.  Entering the last at bat down by one, the boy's heads up base running quickly put two runs across the plate to close out the win.  The team is back in action tonight hosting the Williamston Hornets.

U12 D&M – Road Win vs. Williamston Suns

What a great way to start off the season!  The Holt Jr. Rams U12 D&M team took an early lead against the Williamston Suns and held on for a 5 – 3 victory on the road.

Jake G., Kenny, and Max each scored in the first inning for the early 3-0 lead.  Ethan pitched two great innings without giving up any runs.  The score remained 3-0 at the top of the 3rd inning.   Patrick pitched the next two innings and also did a great job.  The Suns were able to sneak one in on an unfortunate fielding error in the 3rd inning, but Spencer squashed any hopes for additional runs by catching an infield pop to kill the inning.   No runs by either team in the 4 th.

Hunter took over the mound for D&M for the final two innings of the game.  At the top of the 5th inning the score remained 3 – 1.  Patrick hit a single and was eventually batted in by Kenny.  Jake G. also got on base and eventually made it home by a series of stolen bases to put D&M up 5 – 1.  These insurance runs came at a great time as the Suns started to warm up their bats with some hitting that produced one run for them in the 5th inning.

At the top of the 6th, D&M was not able to get the bats going again which kept the score 5 – 2 going into the Sun’s final at-bat on their home field.  Things started out good with a strike out delivered by Hunter, however quickly got scary with an over the fence home run that fired up the Suns and made the score 5 – 3.   The Suns got another runner on base with a walk but another key strike out gave them two outs.  The next batter hit a laser to short stop but Spencer snagged it in the air for the final out, saved the game to keep the score 5 – 3 for the final.

While there were some simple errors that the team needs to avoid in the future, there were plenty of great plays also that secured the victory (such as a diving tag by catcher Kenny to deny a run and a deep fly ball in left field caught by Ethan, and many others)

Awesome job D&M against a good Williamson team!

U10 White Strikes in Haslett

The White squad struck early and often at Haslett in the season opener
Monday night. The bats were lighting hot right from the beginning
innings as Holt opened up a 9 to 1 lead in the first 2 innings. Behind
solid pitching and defense that lead held up until the wonderful
Michigan weather descended with thunder, lightning and rain halted play
after 4 innings and Holt up 9 to 5. The Rams are now 1 and 0 on the
season and start their home schedule tonight against the Holt Blue
squad.

Holt Junior Rams Black U10 open season with 9-4 win over the Lansing Tigers

The Holt U10 Junior Rams Black team traveled to the Field of Dreams to open their season with a 9-4 victory over the Lansing Tigers on May 10. The Rams were led by the hitting of Marcell, David, and Eli. Marcell was 2-4 with a double, David was 2-3 with a triple and a double, and Eli hit a three-run homer to break the game open in the fourth inning.

Everybody played a role in the win for the Junior Rams, according to Manager Jeff Booth. "The boys played well and everyone got a chance to contribute, I hope the rest of the season goes this well," said Booth.

The U10 Black team used three different pitchers, including David, who started and struck out six batters in two innings as the starter.
