Holt D&M U12 defeats Fowlerville 7 - 5

D&M played a great game with very few errors and good pitching by Mitchell, Max, and Kenny.  Fowlerville wouldn't go away though and did a good job hitting the gaps to score five runners.  However D&M had some nice hits of their own to secure the victory with seven runs!

Holt U12 Blue Shut Down Dewitt!

The Holt U12 Blue boys combined a strong offensive game with 14 strikeouts to
beat Dewitt 8-2. Holt combined excellent baserunning and strong defense to stay
atop the division. Improvements are noticed weekly as this group of boys
continue to compete and improve.

U10 Junior Rams Black Team Wins Four Games

The U10 Black team had a busy first week of June, with three league games and a Saturday tournament in Laingsburg. Our boys won four of the six games, bringing their season record up to 8-2.

The week started after an 18-day layoff from games with a home match-up against East Lansing. The feisty Trojans pulled off a surprising upset against our Junior Rams, handing us our first defeat in league play. Our guys regrouped and headed to Williamston the next night to take on the Stingers in the 95-degree heat. The boys opened up hot with five runs in the first inning, and pulled away for a 15-11 win. Two nights later, in a rematch against East Lansing at Patriarche Park, our Black Junior Rams ran up a "baker's dozen" in a 13-4 victory.

Our big week of games ended with a one day tournament in Laingsburg. The boys played two mixed-teams from Laingsburg, winning both, and qualified for the Championship game against a team from the Flushing Baseball club. The team from the Flushing organization looked like a Flint-area all-star team, and had reportedly played in more than a dozen tournaments already this season. Our guys dug down and held them to their lowest score of the day, but we lost that game to finish second in the tournament.

The U10 Black team is 6-1 in the "C" Division of the Mid-Michigan Pony League, with two games coming up this week.

Holt U10 Green vs. Leslie

Holt opened the game with 5 runs and continued to be strong on both offense and defense.   The defense had some incredible plays displaying great teamwork!  It came down to the final inning where Holt tied the game 9-9.  The Leslie team was able to pull off one more run in their last up to bat tallying the score to 10 which got them the win tonight.

Gold U10 Take 2nd in Dewitt Diamond Classic

Congrats to the Gold U10 who showed great heart and grit in winning there first four games of the weekend in style. Beating Fowlerville and Grand Ledge in close games, then coming from behind to beat Okemos to give them a 2nd seed in the finals. In the semi-final round the boys came back from down 11 to 4 in the final inning showing determination winning 12 to 11. Then in one of the best games to watch just came up short in a back and forth championship game that had great defense by both teams, big bats and outstanding pitching losing 7 to 6 with a walk off single by Dewitt.

D&M U12 Takes 1st Place in Bellevue Tournament

Congratulations to Holt Jr. Rams D&M U12
1st Place in Bellevue Tournament (5-0)

Great tournament play by ALL the kids capped off by an over the fence walk-off home run by Ethan in the Championship game to force a mercy against Fowlerville making it 14 - 4.  The boys really pounded the ball this weekend racking up a lot of runs and they held their opponents to very few runs with solid defense.  Awesome job Jr. Rams!!

Holt U-12 Blue Continue Streak

The Holt U-12 Blue continued to score runs taking out Dewitt #1, on Mon, 06/06.
Holt started the scoring early and never stopped, winning 20-16. Defensively,
Holt shut down Dewitt in the last inning as the lead was never in question. Holt
will continue with two more games this week and hopefully continue to improve
both offensively and defensively.

Holt U10 Green

The boys started out swinging the bats and connecting with the ball to score 4 runs in the first inning against St. Gerard.  Our pitchers took the mound and along with our defense held strong inning after inning allowing the Falcons to score only 7 runs.  The team pulled off another great win beating St. Gerard 15-7.  Way to go Rams!

Holt U12 Gold Falls Short

The U12 Gold team dropped a pair of games by one run each against DeWitt (6-5) and Fowlerville (12-11) this week.  While the team did not get the official "wins", the teamwork and determination exemplified by the boys was outstanding.  The team was behind by nine runs (12-3) going into the bottom of the sixth inning against Fowlerville on Friday and they were able to rally to score eight runs to make it a one run game. It was very exciting and while Fowlerville walked away with the victory, the Holt U12 Gold team walked away with their heads held high!  They could have went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the sixth but instead they fought back and sent every player to the plate.....good job boys!!!

U10 Holt White writes own Westside Story

The Rams traveled West to Waverly and put on a show of their own. It
started early with the Rams jumping out to a 2 run lead in the first and
did nt stop until they hung 13 runs on the Warriors. The pitching and
defense did their duty by shutting out the home team. Every one in the
Ram line up got in on the hit fest. The Rams are home this Tuesday to
host Haslett and then travel to Laingsburg Saturday for a big
tournement.

Holt U10 Green

The Holt U10 Green team took on Mason for a second time this evening.  The boys came on strong with several base hits and impeccable teamwork on the field.  In the end, the boys lost 4 to 1.  They displayed an excellent improvement since our last game with Mason and were strong overall for a third game in row this week!

Lakewood squeaks out a win vs. Holt D&M (7-6)

D&M gave Lakewood the win with one bad inning of errors giving up 6 runs.  During D&M’s final at bat they were able to make the game interesting however.  With two outs Jake G. (who went 3 for 3) hit a nice single, he was brought home by a double from Jake D to make the score 7 - 6.  With Jake D. now on third a base hit would have tied the game, unfortunately that didn't happen and the score remained 7 - 6 in Lakewood's favor. Good effort boys but let's shore-up these errors so we aren't giving away a "W".

Holt U12 Gold Team Wins!!!

The Holt U12 Gold team was able to pull out a win against Charlotte on Wednesday evening by a score of 11-10.  The Jr. Rams were down by 3 runs going into the last inning and scored 4 runs to take the lead in the top of the inning.  The team was then able to shut Charlotte down in the bottom of the inning to claim the victory.  The team battled back every inning and continues to prove the importance of teamwork in baseball.  This was a great win for the players and coaches....they never gave up!  The TEAM should be very proud of the win!!!  Great Job!  Go Rams!!!

Holt U10 Green

The team came back in the last 2 innings hoping to pull off the win against St. Gerard.  The boys were swinging the bats and making big plays on the field but couldn’t quite pull out a victory against St. Gerard losing by only one point.  The final score was 5-6.  Keep up the awesome teamwork boys!

The Portland Sabres clobber Holt D&M

The Portland Sabres rolled into Holt ready to clobber the ball... and they did.  They must grow them big in Portland as many of those kids were taller than their coaches.  They put on an impressive display of hitting and pitching holding down D&M 16 - 1.  The D&M boys don't have time to wallow though as their next game is tonight (6/1/11) against the Lakewood Vikings.  Keep your heads up boys and quickly put this one behind you with a win tonight!!
