U12 White defeats Leslie

The U12 White team went on the road for the first time last night, but the outcome was remarkably the same, another thrilling down-to-the-wire 9-8 win, this time over a tough Leslie team.  Preston (38) pitched the first two innings against a very good hitting Leslie team, recording five strike outs, and getting help for the other out from an outstanding throw from Brayden (42) behind the plate to catch a runner attempting to steal third, but instead finding the tag of Jake (31).  Justin (11) took over on the mound for the next two innings recording three strikeouts and fielding a hit back to the mount to throw down to Anthony (94) at first, then getting help in the field from Cole (18), and Michael (23) for force outs at first and second.  In the end his performance led to stranding five runners over both innings and limiting Leslie to just two runs.  Clinging to a single run lead, and needing a shutdown effort, Nolan (23) made his first appearance on the mount this season.  He quickly got two batters to ground into force outs at first, and with the tying run in scoring position, he struck out Leslie's leadoff hitter (who had previously been 3 for 3 on the night), to seal the victory.  Along the way, the team continues to see improvement at the plate and was led by Colin (37) who went 2 for 3 for the night to lead all Holt batters.
