Holt Junior Rams Black U10 - 2 Eaton Rapids Monroe - 3, Final

The Holt Jr Rams Black U10 team suffered a heartbreaking defeat to the Eaton Rapids Monroe Greyhounds 3 to 2. The Jr Rams had the bases loaded on multiple occasions looking to break the game open but couldn't push the tying run across. Leading the Jr Rams was Penski and Sadler who each bombed triples over the Greyhound outfielders. The defense was a little shaky, but tough pitching kept the Jr Rams in it.

Waverly 11 Holt Jr. Rams White 4

The Holt Jr. Rams White hosted #1 Waverly on Friday.  It was a very interesting game to say the least.  The Jr. Rams had a chance to beat Waverly but unfortunately had a few fundamental errors.  It was a close game until the 5th inning with the Holt Jr. Rams giving up 7 walks and 2 hits resulting in 6 runs.   Jared started the game off pitching and had 2 great innings striking out 4 players.  Brandon came in and pitched 2 and 1/3 innings having 7 strike outs. Cameron and Jackson both came in to pitch under pressure having 1 strike out each.  All of the pitchers unfortunately gave up 15 walks for the game with 7 total hits.

Holt Jr. Rams had 7 hits total.  The Jr. Rams made contact and put the ball in play 6 other times.  The leading hitters of the game were Brandon and Kody each with 2 and Jacob, Andrew, and Jared all had 1.   Brandon and Jacob each put down bunts of which Jacob turned his into a triple!  Just about every player hit the ball!  Austin caught the entire game.  Jakob was not feeling well and Brandon still injured (knee) both played with heart.

Holt Jr Rams U12 Gold defeats St. Johns 8-5

The boys came out swinging Tuesday night as Brayden ,Mitchell ,Max and Brendan all had singles to get on base. Followed by Cameron who had two singles and Dalton had a huge double to bring in Cole to put us up from a 5-5 tie! It was a close game throughout but the Rams really wanted this win and it showed in their toughness in the field. Great pitching by Dalton and Mitchell who had a combined total of 10 strikeouts!!! Cole had a great diving catch and throw to 1st to get the final out to end the game. Great Job Rams!

Holt Jr. Rams Black U10 defeats Eaton Rapids 14 - 8

The Holt Jr. Rams Black U10 baseball club used an array of hits and walks to defeat the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds 14 to 8 on Tuesday June 12th. While the Jr. Rams have struggled slightly this season with the bats, there was no evidence Tuesday night. Every Jr. Ram collected at least a hit or a walk and solid pitching from Penski, Harns and Grimaldi held the Greyhounds in check. The Jr. Rams continue action Thursday, June 14th at home against Mason.

Holt Jr. Rams White 19 Williamston Hornets 6

The Holt Jr. Rams White had a wonderful game while visiting the Williamston Hornets.  Cameron was our first pitcher who  had 4 strike outs and a great outing on his first time starting as a pitcher.  Cole came in to finish the second inning making his first debut as a pitcher under pressure with the bases loaded getting the batter out.  Jared had his first excellent pitching experience with 1 scoreless inning and having 2 strike outs.  Jakob finished the last 2 batters preserving Holts victory.  Jakob, Kody and Jackson each had their opportunity to catch and had few stolen bases allowed.  Jacob, Jared, Andrew, and Cole all started the infield for the first time and played very well stopping the ball and making outs.

The Holt Jr. Rams had 12 hits with the leading hitter Jakob having 4 hits followed by Brandon, Andrew  and Cole having 2 hits apiece. Jared,  Jackson and Austin all had hits.  In the highlights,  Cole had his first hit of the season and it was a shot to the outfield resulting in a Triple (3B).  Andrew had a 3 run HR hit to Left Center and had a slide that was tough to re-enact to beat the throw at home.  Jakob had a crushing hit to right center resulting in a 2 run HR  on his first time at bat of the game kick starting the team.  Brandon had 2 crushing hits to the outfield of which his injury prevented him from getting extended base hits.  Jared laid down a perfect bunt and beat out the throw to first base on his first at bat.   Cameron, Jacob and Jared were each walked 3 times while Jackson and Austin were walked twice.

This was a fun game and I hope I did not miss any highlights.  The final score:  Williamston Hornets 6 and Holt Jr. Rams white 19.   There next game is against Waverly on Friday.  Waverly is undefeated and leading the division.

Holt Jr. Rams White- 5 Stockbridge Mustangs #1- 5

Well if you were not at the game, you missed a great, tense and exciting game.  The game went the full 6 innings which hardly ever happens at this U10 age group.  It was a defensive battle through fielding and pitching with great plays and special hits.  The Holt Jr. Rams took an early lead in the first inning 3-1.  Stockbridge scored 1 run in the second holding the Jr. Rams scoreless while down 3-2.  The third inning both teams were scoreless.  The fourth inning Stockbridge scored 1.  In the bottom of the fourth, the Holt Jr. Rams had 2 runners in scoring position but were not able to capitalize resulting in a tie game 3-3.  In the fifth inning, both teams were scoreless.  The sixth and final inning was an absolute barn burner.  Carson, the impressive one armed player,  hit a crushing 2 run homerun giving Stockbridge  the lead 5-3.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Holt Jr. Rams first 2 batters struck out giving Stockbridge a huge momentum and advantage deflating the Holt Jr. Rams morale.  Andrew our hot hitter came up to the plate.  Andrew hit a solid shot to the outfield resulting in a triple.  With a runner at third and the tying run at the plate, the Jr. Rams batter Luke was unfortunately hit by the pitcher putting the Jr. Rams tying run on first base.  Luke, the tying run, was given the steal sign and the catcher threw a perfect throw to second.  Luke sprinting hard slid under the tag dodging a crucial out by getting a close call putting the tying run in scoring position.  Up came Kody who crushed a single to right field scoring both runs tying the game.  With Kody on first, coach gave a risky signal to steal second hoping Stockbridge would make a fielding error at second to send him to third and possibly home.  With the risky call, the catcher threw a bullet to second base getting Kody out at second.  It had to be a perfect throw and execution by the catcher and second base which Stockbridge succeeded.  The game ended in a tie 6-6.  This was one of the most exciting games to see.

All three Holt pitchers only allowed 4 hits in the game. Brandon pitched 3 exciting and brilliant innings having 7 strike outs.  Jakob pitched 2  1/3 smart and strategic innings having 3 strikeouts.  Jackson came in the sixth having 2 strikeouts saving the Jr. Rams from a potential nightmare loss.  All of the pitchers were outstanding!

In Fielding, Jacob did a great job in the outfield backing up the infield which he is consistently playing his position correctly.  Luke, Jakob and Kody all caught complex fly outs.  Jakob threw a runner out at first.   Kody almost turned a double play, however the call on the field caused confusion. The correct decision was made.  Austin and Cole both did a great job catching only allowing 5 stolen bases on a fast running team.  Both made great stops behind the plate. Cameron did a great job at 3rd base communicating to the team and in the outfield stopping a base hit from becoming a homerun.

Hitting was fun to watch with a combined 7 hits.  Brandon and Andrew each hit a triple off of crushing hits that went past the outfielders.  Jackson and Jakob both hit a line shot fly outs that the fielders had their Lucky gloves in the right places to get them out.  Kody, Luke, Jared, and Andrew all contributed with singles.  Leading hitter was Andrew with 3, followed by Kody with 2, while Luke and Jared each had 1.  Cameron and Jackson were each walked.  Jared had his first hit with his brand new bat and it was a hard shot to right field.

Congratulations Holt Jr. Rams on tying the game with one of the best teams we will face in our league.    Our next game is against Williamston at Williamston. I apologize over the length of this article but there was a lot to cover in this game.

Special note,  I hope you had a chance to see the player from Stockbridge, Carson, the impressive 1 armed player.  The positions he played -pitcher (threw the ball over 50mph), catcher (for 3 innings), and played the infield.  He hit a HR, single, and double just short of completing the hitting cycle.  He was absolutely fun to watch!  (Of course our kids were absolutely fun to watch!)
